Othman Louanjli is an experienced finance and banking professional who has worked in the financial services industry for more than 10 years. His career began in 2006 at Goldman Sachs bank in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). While at the firm, he worked in Cross Asset Sales, a position that put him in touch with existing and potential clients for the company. One of his responsibilities at this job was to provide solutions to clients that would lead to more sales of the firm’s services and products.
After working at Goldman Sachs for seven years, Mr. Louanjli moved to Abu Dhabi to join Julius Baer, which is an internationally-recognised private banking group. The company has been in operation since the 1890s when it was founded as a small bureau de change before steadily expanding to include wealth management services.
Julius Baer’s growth paralleled the economic and technological progress witnessed around the world following the conclusion of World War II. The company, which was a partnership at the time, saw fit to expand and establish offices in other locations. This rapid growth was a significant factor in helping the firm become the first private bank in Switzerland to go public.
As the company grew, so too did the need to adapt to the dynamic business environment. In 2009, Julius Baer decided to separate the private client business from asset management, providing each unit with the strategic flexibility to grow. The private banking business later became known as Julius Baer Group Limited and was provided with a platform to grow via worldwide strategic cooperation agreements and acquisitions.
In 2012, Julius Baer acquired the international wealth management business of Merrill Lynch, allowing the former to solidify its position as a reliable wealth management business. Since the acquisition, the bank has doubled its assets to more than $300 billion. Among its competitors in the wealth management sector, Julius Baer is one of the few to succeed in building a global business and adding assets while other firms have reduced.
While working in private banking provides Othman Louanjli with a means to use his knowledge and skills, he also has various personal interests that keep him happy. He is an avid fan of football and tennis, sports that he also plays. He supports Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), one of the football clubs in the French top division (Ligue 1). When it comes to tennis, Roger Federer is his favourite player.
Cooking, acting, surfing and photography are all additional interests that Mr. Louanjli engages in.
